Quick Builds
by Gadget inhas any body any idea how good the workmanship is on quickbuilds?
normally if you get a group of people who don't know about building you get chaos.
i know a few years ago they were changed from 48hrs to 2weekend, something to do with not being able to lay the bricks fast enough, new legislation limiting how many courses could be done in a day.

SixOf,
I really don't see any dramatic changes. I'm not a young buck anymore and don't anticipate some new 'flood' of insight. Of course anything can happen. I'm at the same exciting stage in my life where I'm free to move and explore. I'm quite happy and content. I think other than the fact that there is a god ( which i realize some would challenge ) nothing else really matters. It really isn't rocket science. WHAT indeed, is your god asking from but that you keep yourself without spot from wickedness and look after orphans and widows in their tribulation. But like I said, I'm not at your level so I'm quite certain that I will have a completly different understanding of that phrase when I am at your level of insight and wisdom.

Disfellowshipping
by Gadget inhi, i wonder if someone can give me some information on the disfellowshipping/reinstating process.
i appealed my disfellowshipping and at the appeal hearing they went to deliberate.
they spent 10min on their own, over an hour with the original committee, then 5-10 min on their own again before disfellowshipping me.

Instructions for reinstatement:
Take some acting classes. Crying is good, but what is even better is catch phrases and buzz words. Here is a letter I wrote for someone seeking reinstatement.
I really can’t seem to find the words that can help anyone understand what the past year has done for me as a servant of Jehovah. The things that I have come to understand since I have been disfellowshipped will be with me for the rest of my life. I wish had never done what brought this on me, but I will always be thankful for the lessons that Jehovah has taught me this past year. I will have them with me as I serve Jehovah for the rest of my life. This has changed me in a way nothing else could have.
I have always thought of myself as a lover of what is good. I have learned though that while I may have been a lover of what is good, I did not hate what was bad at the same time. And, as a result, the most precious thing to me, my relationship with Jehovah, has been affected because of my actions. One of the most important things I have come to appreciate is the need for a regular personal study and prayer. This has been the key to building the strong relationship that I now have with Jehovah. Now, with Jehovah’s support behind me I will continue to hate what is bad and NEVER let this sort of thing happen again.
I feel that the discipline I needed has run its course. Also, I have come to appreciate the love of the brothers and how much that has been missing in my life. I’m asking at this time that you consider my plea for reinstatement into the congregation. I’m very eager to get back to work for Jehovah in whatever way he will use me.
I also want to thank you brothers who have worked with me through this for seeing all along what I should have and for being a true teacher to me. I will always be thankful your patient and loving help. May Jehovah bless all of us as we struggle to serve him in these wicked last days.

Francois,
My search for wisdom is for the purpose of being a more useful member of society. First to my family, then to friends & strangers. If I had power or influence as my goal I would feel a buring desire to express my 'wisdom' about the teachings of the WTBS to those who are misled by them. Wisdom is progressive. Everyone likes to think they are farther ahead than the other. But the truth is, you have to be ready for any new insight. You can give someone facts all day long, but if they are not ready for it, nothing will ever come from it. All I know is that I don't know it all. I will keep on reading learning and making mistakes and hopefully learning from them as well.
I don't mind being the center of attention, but it's not my desire either. Where am I? I am free, I wish the same position on everyone else. I have been accused of being idealistic, I'm sure I am. But I'm also a half full kind of person and one goes hand and hand with the other. I like where I am, I know where I have been, I have regrets and triumphs both. Success can come out of the strangest places, ie Victor Frankl.

I beleive I used the term "wisdom of the bible" not teachings. You can glean wisdom from the teachings of fools. So I guess that means that you can even learn something from me.

Discipline or abuse - Which?
by Lady Lee ini am having a discussion on another board about the topic of disciplining children.
some people seem to think that as long as the child did something to "deserve" it then the parent has the right to hit anyway they want.. grrrr.
many of us grew up in a society that accepted the practice of corporal punishment.

It has always amazed me that Elders give talks about discipline and they use the scripture about beat your son with the rod of discipline. They fail to do their homework that the rod of a shepard was used to guide. You can beat on a sheep as hard as you want, they have up to 6 inches of wool at times. It's a little different with kids.
I also had the experience of noting that the only time I ever felt frustrated to the point of physical discipline was at the meetings. I examined the circumstances that led to this and realized it was a scenario created by people with no experience with children ( WTBS cronies ) they never have to take a kid to a meeting, so how in touch with reality can they be?

Did You Support Children Getting Baptized?
by minimus inafter reading blondie's thread of the baptisms at the district convention, i couldn't help but identify with the 11 year old that said she was so happy to be baptized and has wanted to be baptized for years now.
i was 9 when i got baptized but really wanted to take the plunge at around 7. after my mother talked to the congregation servant about my desire, he said that she should not hold me back.
my daughter was 14 when she got baptized.

Jesus left a model for us to follow, he was 30, maybe he was just a slow learner or wanted to sow his wild oats first. I don't think so.
Could the reason the WTBS advises early baptism is because they KNOW how it locks you in before you fully understand the possible consequences of what you are doing? I certainly think so. WT for this past Sunday talked about youths being industrious in service and eventual baptism. It's no mistake that the kids in the picture are all like 10 - 12 years old.

You "angry's" confuse the wisdom of the bible with the spewings of the WTBS.
